Rio Tinto signed an MoU on October 1 in Ulaanbaatar with the National University of Mongolia (NUM), formalising a partnership to sponsor 2020 Start-up Lab Program, offer real-world work experience to students through internship opportunities and explore opportunities to establish a lecture series promoting responsible mining.
Following the MOU signing, Rio Tinto Group executive Growth & Innovation Stephen McIntosh visited NUM as a guest speaker to the round table discussion on “Innovation and Leadership” on October 4. Prof. Lodoiravsal.Ch, Vice president for Research, International and Corporate Relations, moderated the discussion and introduced the main progress of Innovation projects and Start-up Lab programs.
During the round table discussion, the PI and team leaders of the start-up and innovation projects have presented the innovative side of their studies and research results and made interesting discussion with delegates from Rio Tinto and Oyu Tolgoi LLC. The discussion has generated some great ideas on future collaboration. Mr Stephen McIntosh has provided valuable feedback on the projects and shared his opinion on flourishing future cooperation with NUM.
