PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP FEATURED PROFESSOR DR. MICHAEL FRESE
Public Administration Department hosted its professional development workshop series on Monday, April 11th, 2016, from 9:30 until 12:30 at the conference room 203 of NUM Building V. The workshop featured Prof. Dr. Michael Frese on the topic of “The problem of personal initiative in transitional economies – the example of East Germany and generalizations to developing counties.” Prof. Dr. Michael Frese is internationally renowned for his applied research on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship trainings in several African countries.
Prof. Dr. Michael Frese holds a joint appointment at the National University of Singapore Business School and Leuphana (University of Lueneburg, Germany). He has published more than 200 articles in such journals as Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Journal of Business Venturing and cultural issues.
During the workshop, the participants interactively discussed with Prof. Dr. Michael Frese about how and why centralized socialist governments constrain personal initiative and why it is important to foster personal initiative and how that can be done.
