Global Affairs Canada provides scholarships to support the best and brightest students to come to Canada and York University on a short-term study or research project.
York University is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 academic year for Emerging Leaders of the Americas Program (ELAP), Study in Canada (SIC), and Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED-2). York welcomes scholarship applications from both incoming exchange and visiting research students. Scholarships range from $8,200 to $14,000, depending on the program and length of time in Canada.
For students who wish to come on the exchange, York University must have a bilateral agreement with home institution. Please check in with your international office about their partnerships in Canada. A bilateral agreement is not required for visiting research students. Visiting research students are welcomed at York University through the International Visiting Research Trainee (IVRT) program. Students interested in coming to York University for research are responsible for finding their own supervisor.
Note that all students must:
- complete an application for an exchange or research (IVRT), and

York’s internal deadline is March 12th, 2026 at 11:59pm(ET). More details on how to apply and the online application can be found on our website: https://yorkinternational.yorku.ca/funding-incoming-global-learning/
