The School for International Relations and Public Administration (SIRPA) of the National University of Mongolia (NUM) cooperation with the GIZ, IMRI organized workshop titled “Public administration and its relevance for institution building” conducted by Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. James A. Robinson on May 10, 2016, from 09:00 to 10:30 at Room 203, Building No 5, National University of Mongolia. The event started with inaugural remarks by Prof. Dr. Battulga S, Director of SIRPA, NUM, Prof. Dr. Burmaa N, Head of Public Administration Department of SIRPA, and Dr. Dr. h. c. Stefan Hanselmann, Director of GIZ IMRI. The workshop participants were made up of professors and lecturers from the School of International Relations and Public Administration, Law Enforcement University, Etugen University, Tsetsee Gun institute, Mongolian University of Science and Technology, Mongolia International University, and the representatives from Civil Service Council of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar Governor’s office, and international organizations. Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. James A. Robinson talked about the gap between social norms and formal rules in the context of political and public institutions and the strategies to overcome the barriers to close the gap. The lecture was followed by questions and answer session. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. James A.
