National University of Mongolia Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization

The National University of Mongolia (NUM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) on March 24, 2026.

A delegation led by APSCO Secretary-General H.E. Dr. Jiang Hui visited NUM, where both parties signed the MoU and exchanged detailed views with the university’s leadership on future areas of cooperation.

The meeting was attended by APSCO Director General Dr. Tatyana Chuentragun, Executive Director Ts. Gantogs, Project Manager Zhuang Ji, as well as representatives from the National Astronomical Observatories under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, GalaxySpace, China Satellite Network Group Co., Ltd., and Emposat Co., Ltd. Participants discussed opportunities for implementing joint projects and programs, strengthening human resource capacity, establishing cooperation with space technology manufacturing companies, and organizing joint conferences and short-term training programs.

Dr. Jiang Hui expressed her appreciation for the formalization of cooperation between the two organizations and emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration among APSCO member countries, enhancing knowledge exchange, and actively participating in joint projects and programs.

Within the framework of the MoU, the parties agreed to cooperate in the following areas:

  • Implementation of joint research projects in fields of mutual interest;
  • Promotion of academic staff and student exchanges;
  • Exchange of scholarly experience through mutual invitations of faculty members and students;
  • Joint organization of conferences, symposia, seminars, and similar events;
  • Mutual participation in training programs, summer schools, and scholarly meetings organized by either party;
  • Support for cooperation between respective departments and units, subject to available funding, as well as the exchange of scientific publications and information;
  • Provision of space technology equipment support to member countries by APSCO;
  • Joint implementation of the “Space University” alliance.

From the NUM side, the meeting was attended by Rector B. Ochirkhuyag, Vice Rector for Research and Cooperation Ts. Baatarchuluun, Dean of Division of Natural Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences G. Munkhbayar, Head of the Department of Geography G. Byambakhuu, Associate Professor of the Department of Physics T. Turtogtokh, and Head of the Department of Cooperation Sh. Mendbayar.
