Greetings from the Korea Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy and Management, in Seoul, Korea! We would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) that is available to qualified students of your school seeking advanced academic degrees.

KDI School of Public Policy and Management was established in 1997 in partnership with the KDI. Korea Development Institute (KDI) was founded in 1971 as a think tank that researches economic policy issues concerning Korea in both systematic and applicable ways, and assists the government in formulating the “Five-year Economic Development Plans” and related policies. As the KDI School was established as an affiliated institution of KDI, we can freely draw resources from KDI which has been accumulated for the past 40 years. Therefore, the KDI School cannot be compared to any other institutions in teaching Korea’s unique economic development and policy making.

The KDI School is an international, English speaking graduate school offering two types of degrees to international applicants – the Master of Development Policy (MDP), the Master of Public Policy (MPP). Since its foundation in 1997, the KDI School has recruited about 50 percent of our student body from abroad, admitting 1,038 international students from 101 countries from around the world. Each degree is taught by renowned faculty with established credentials in both the public and private sector. The KDI School blends their wealth of expertise and experiences to provide a curriculum that optimizes academic theory and real world relevance. Every year, the KDI School hosts dozens of international students and is currently seeking even greater representation from your country this year.

We are particularly interested in recruiting talented college graduates possessing academic excellence in your school. We hope that you will help us reach such potential applicants through the most efficient channels such as university website or bulletin boards.

Enclosed with this letter is a “KGSP Guidelines” announcement and detailed information about the KDI School, which we hope you will distribute to potential applicants in your school. KGSP scholars receive round-trip airfare, full tuition scholarships, and additional financial aid to cover costs for housing, meals, and other living expenses.

The application deadline is March 23, 2012, meaning that all application materials must arrive at the KDI School by the deadline. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact our office. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
