THE 2013 STUDENT EXCHANGE SUPPORT PROGRAM
(SCHOLARSHIP FOR SHORT-TERM STUDY IN JAPAN) by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)
This scholarship is offered for students from our sister institutions overseas who will participate in the International One-Year Exchange Student Program at Senshu University. Please note that if the applicant fails in acquiring the JASSO scholarship, Senshu University cannot provide her/him with a financial grant of any kind other than waived tuition.
Change of the Scholarship System
First of all, the JASSO is re-constructing the Scholarship programs drastically for 2013. All conditions and qualifications for the Scholarship in 2013 are being reviewed, but they will be announced to Senshu University in the middle of December. Although it is still in discussion by the Japanese Government, the number of allocation of this scholarship is supposed to be decreased in 2013 compared to 2012. In any case of changes, we will send them to you as soon as possible when we receive the information from the JASSO.
However, if there are any superior students with high motivation who wish to apply for this scholarship program, the following conditions are supposed to be required by the JASSO. As this scholarship scheme aims to promote exchanges between universities, applications sent directly to JASSO either from students or their home institutions cannot be accepted.
JASSO will proved students with the following financial aid:
Monthly stipend: 80,000 yen (up to twelve months) as of Nov.2012.
It is NOT enough to live in Japan using only the monthly scholarship, 80.000 yen. Even if students get this scholarship, they still need to bring their own funds to Japan. As you can see in the “General Information for Studying at Senshu University for International Exchange Students 2013”, the estimated cost for twelve months is 1,537,000 yen.
